Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially extended its trial visa-free entry program for Thai nationals through July 31, 2027, maintaining 14-day visa-exempt travel to support expanding tourism and regional exchange.
Concurrently, state airport operator Airports of Thailand has moved to protect international travelers' wallets at Suvarnabhumi Airport by strictly enforcing vendor pricing caps and expanding mandatory budget dining options across passenger terminals.
Under the extended visa framework, eligible Thai passport holders can continue entering Taiwan without a visa for short-term stays.
The decision follows an interagency review of Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy, which saw reciprocal travel between Taiwan and Thailand reach record numbers.
Taiwanese authorities reported over one million visits to Thailand and more than 500,000 Thai visits to Taiwan over recent operational years.
Thai travelers are required to hold a passport valid for at least six months and present confirmed return travel arrangements upon entry.
Meanwhile, at Bangkok’s main international gateway, Airports of Thailand addressed long-standing passenger complaints regarding terminal concession markups.
Commercial concessionaire King Power Suvarnabhumi has rolled out the 'Suvarnabhumi Food Guide' initiative for the 2026–2027 period, mandating capped pricing structures across terminal eateries.
Under contractual oversight, vendor prices inside the international passenger terminal are strictly prohibited from exceeding 20 percent above standard retail rates benchmarked against major department stores and leading hotels in Bangkok.
To ensure affordable access for all passengers, the program introduces standardized low-cost items, including a 50-baht (approximately $1.40 USD) combo featuring a Krispy Kreme doughnut and soft drink.
Travelers seeking full meals can also access 24-hour options at the terminal’s dedicated Magic Food Point food court, where entry-level dishes start at 30 to 50 baht.
Airports of Thailand confirmed that commercial compliance is audited monthly to preserve pricing transparency as international passenger volume continues to grow.
