Thailand and China Celebrate 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations
A Milestone Anniversary with Commemorative Events and a Special Logo
Thailand and China are marking 50 years of diplomatic relations with a newly unveiled logo symbolizing their 'Golden Jubilee'.
The design was revealed during a ceremony at the Iconsiam shopping complex, where Thailand's Foreign Affairs Minister Maris Sangiampongsa and China's ambassador to Thailand, Han Zhiqiang, were present.
Established on July 1, 1975, through the signing of the Joint Communique on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations in Beijing, this anniversary serves as a celebration and an opportunity to reflect on their enduring partnership.
The logo, jointly created by the foreign ministries of both countries, features a dragon and a Naga—a mythical serpent-like creature—facing each other and gazing at a golden orb, symbolizing a shared vision of a 'Thailand-China Community with a Shared Future for Enhanced Stability, Prosperity, and Sustainability'.
The colors of the logo incorporate red from the Chinese flag and blue from the Thai flag.
Minister Maris highlighted the close ties developed over five decades, expressing the hope that this anniversary will pave the way for strengthened future relations and solutions to upcoming challenges.
A series of events are planned throughout the year, including bringing a Buddha's tooth relic from Lingguang Temple in Beijing to Sanam Luang, Bangkok, for public veneration from December 4 to February 14.
Ambassador Han emphasized the special relationship between Thailand and China, acknowledging next year as a 'golden year' in their collaboration and a new starting point for enhanced bilateral relations.
