In a broadcast of her TV program 'Thailand’s Chance with PM Paetongtarn', she stated that air pollution is a regional problem, requiring collective efforts from all ASEAN nations.
The prime minister emphasized that diplomatic efforts would be necessary for planning talks with ASEAN counterparts.
While no specific timeline was provided, Paetongtarn expressed confidence that discussions would proceed smoothly due to strong relationships between regional leaders.
Since assuming office, she has prioritized addressing PM2.5 pollution, with the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency warning that the situation would worsen.
In response, the Thai government has implemented measures to mitigate the effects of pollution.
The Industry Ministry has taken action to reduce sugarcane field burning, while the Agriculture Ministry has introduced measures to curb the burning of agricultural by-products.
Additionally, the Transport Ministry has provided free public transport in Bangkok for seven days to help reduce air pollution hotspots in the capital.
