TMBThanachart Bank Denies Merger Rumours with Krungthai Bank

CEO Piti Tantakasem refutes speculation about a potential merger, emphasizing focus on customer development and organizational transformation.
TMBThanachart Bank (ttb) has officially denied speculation of a merger with Krungthai Bank (KTB) in response to reports circulating in local media.

In an internal memo issued on March 21, 2025, ttb's CEO, Piti Tantakasem, reassured employees that there are no discussions occurring regarding a merger with KTB or any other financial institutions.

Tantakasem clarified that the bank's board of directors has neither considered nor directed the management to explore merger opportunities.

Furthermore, he emphasized that such plans are not included in the bank’s five-year strategic roadmap.

The CEO stated, "At present, ttb's key mission is to 'Make Real Change' — creating meaningful financial improvements for our more than 10 million customers.

We are executing this through our Ecosystem Play growth strategy, focusing on customer segments where we have deep expertise."

Underneath these assertions, ttb is actively pursuing a comprehensive organizational transformation aimed at enhancing its capabilities, strengthening competitiveness, and improving the overall financial experience for its customers.

This initiative is designed to foster sustainable growth in conjunction with customers, business partners, and stakeholders.
