Trump's Re-election Boosts World's Wealthiest by $64 Billion
Wednesday was not only a successful day for Donald Trump but also marked a record-breaking occasion for the fortunes of the world's top 10 richest individuals, as reported by Bloomberg's Billionaires Index.
Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual and a staunch supporter of Trump, saw the most significant increase with his net worth rising by $26.5 billion to $290 billion, as noted by Bloomberg.
Following his choice to prevent The Washington Post from backing Vice President Kamala Harris, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos experienced a $7.1 billion rise in his fortune over the week.
Larry Ellison, Oracle’s co-founder and another Trump advocate, observed a $5.5 billion boost in his net worth on Wednesday.
Additional beneficiaries included former Microsoft executives Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, past Google executives Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Despite not endorsing any candidates this year, some have previously supported Democratic figures and initiatives.
In all, the top 10 wealthiest individuals amassed a total of $64 billion.
Bloomberg highlights this as "the largest single-day increase" in wealth since the index began in 2012. The stock market surged on Wednesday after the election concluded quickly, with expectations that Trump would spearhead an era of deregulation and pro-business policies. Investors are optimistic that such changes will positively impact the stock market, particularly for billionaires who possess a significant share of global wealth.
