Chanakarn Theeravechpolkul Appointed as New Chief Justice
Chanakarn Theeravechpolkul has been appointed as the new president of Thailand's Supreme Court, effective October 1, 2024. She is the fourth woman to hold this position and will replace Anocha Chevitsophon, whose term ends on September 30. Chanakarn has an extensive legal background and graduated with a law degree from Thammasat University.
The Judicial Commission has appointed Chanakarn Theeravechpolkul, previously the president of the Juvenile and Family Division of the Supreme Court, as the new president of the Supreme Court of Thailand.
The Courts of Justice spokesman, Sorawit Limparangsri, announced that her appointment will take effect on October 1, 2024.
Chanakarn will replace Anocha Chevitsophon, whose term ends on September 30.
An accomplished legal professional, Chanakarn is the fourth woman to hold this prestigious position.
She has an extensive judicial background, having served at various courts, including the Phitsanulok Juvenile and Family Court, Bangkok South Civil Court, and the Central Bankruptcy Court.
She graduated with a bachelor's degree in law from Thammasat University and passed the Thai bar exam.
