Chinatown Sidewalk Transformed with Peonies in Bangkok
In Bangkok's Chinatown, a new flower-themed sidewalk with peony patterns has been introduced as part of a plan to improve city pavements and attract tourists. The tiles, designed by SCG and proposed by local councillor PINIT KANJANACHUSAK, aim to represent success and affluence. The non-slip design makes the walkway safe and easy to clean.
In Chinatown (Yaowarat), Bangkok has unveiled a new sidewalk as part of a four-year initiative aimed at enhancing the city's pavements and attracting Chinese tourists.
The new dark-red tiles feature a peony flower pattern, replacing the old dragon-scale design.
Peonies, representing abundance and success in romance, were proposed by PINIT KANJANACHUSAK, a Bangkok councillor for Samphanthawong district.
The Siam Cement Group (SCG) designed and manufactured the tiles, ensuring the pattern and colors are embedded through a shot-blasting process for easy cleaning and non-slip texture.
