1.5 Million Singaporeans to Receive up to $850 in Financial Aid
In August, 1.5 million Singaporeans will receive up to 850 dollars to cope with rising costs. Those in homes with annual values up to 15,541 dollars will get 850 dollars. Singaporeans aged 65 and above will receive up to 333 dollars in their Central Provident Fund MediSave accounts.
In August, 1.5 million Singaporeans will receive up to one dollar eight hundred fifty to help with rising costs.
Residents in homes with annual values up to one dollar fifteen thousand five hundred forty-one will get one dollar eight hundred fifty, while those with higher values up to one dollar eighteen thousand five hundred one will receive one dollar three hundred thirty-three.
Payments are for those aged 21 and above with an income cap of one dollar twenty-five thousand one hundred sixty for 2023, excluding property owners of multiple homes.
Additionally, 650,000 Singaporeans aged 65 and above will get up to one dollar three hundred thirty-three credited to their Central Provident Fund MediSave accounts.
This initiative is part of the GST Voucher scheme, aimed at easing GST expenses for lower- to middle-income residents.
The GST rate increased from 7% to 8% in January 2023 and will be 9% in 2024.
Announced by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, the 2024 GSTV disbursements will total one dollar one-point-zero-four billion.
Citizens can sign up for the GSTV Scheme at the govbenefits website by July 9.
Payments will be facilitated via PayNow linked to bank accounts by July 22, or through Giro and GovCash for those without PayNow.
