Thai Union Launches Innovation Hub in the Netherlands
Thai Union Group has opened a new Innovation Hub in Wageningen, the Netherlands, to boost its seafood innovation capabilities. The facility will work with Wageningen University & Research and other partners to drive marine health and nutrition innovations, aligning with the company's sustainability goals. The Hub includes a pilot plant and labs to support product innovation, with successful projects like EcoTwist already entering the market.

As stressed by CEO Thiraphong Chansiri, this facility complements the company's Global Innovation Center in Thailand, focusing on adapting to market demands and driving the company's SEACHANGE® 2030 sustainability strategy.
The Hub will collaborate with Wageningen University & Research, renowned for excellence in food science and nutrition.
Patrick Tassignon, Senior Innovation Director, emphasized that this location will foster partnerships with startups and companies to boost marine health and nutrition innovations.
Professor Ellen Kampman from Wageningen University noted that Thai Union's presence adds a marine protein element to the local ecosystem, enhancing collaborative research opportunities.
The Hub includes a pilot plant, analytical and packaging labs, a sensory lab, and a user experience kitchen to support product development.
The team is already seeing success with projects like John West's EcoTwist® in the UK, which innovatively reduces packaging and material use.
Thai Union aims to engage consumers, academia, and partners in ongoing and future collaborations.
