In Chiang Mai's Mae Taeng district, severe floods have swamped the Elephant Nature Park, leading to the urgent evacuation of over 100 elephants along with hundreds of sick dogs and cats. Director Sangduen Chailert has shared visuals of these efforts, as rising floodwaters submerged the perimeter walls. Volunteers with boats and cages are desperately needed to assist with the relocation.
Chiang Mai’s Mae Taeng district is experiencing severe flooding, causing the Mae Taeng River to overflow and inundate the Elephant Nature Park.
Consequently, over 100 elephants, alongside hundreds of ill dogs and cats, have been evacuated to higher ground.
Sangduen Chailert, director of the Elephant Park and Clinic and president of the Elephant Nature Park, shared photos and videos of these efforts on her Facebook page, highlighting that the flood waters had risen enough to submerge perimeter walls.
The Facebook page 'Animal Aholic' called for volunteers to assist in the relocation with jet skis, flat-bottomed boats, and cages.
