Thailand’s Cyber Agency Accelerates Media Protection Amid Rising Digital Threats
NCSA and ThaiCERT reinforce media system security, responding to surging DDoS, fake‑news bots and credential leaks
Thailand’s National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has intensified efforts to defend national media infrastructure against escalating cyber threats.
Working closely with ThaiCERT, the agency is conducting round‑the‑clock monitoring and support for news publishers and broadcaster platforms.
Air Vice Marshal Amorn Chomchoey, Secretary‑General of the NCSA, reported a sharp rise in distributed denial‑of‑service attacks aimed at disrupting media websites.
He also identified coordinated activity on social media using automated bots to report content, spread disinformation and compromise page administrator accounts.
Investigations by the agency have uncovered targeted credential leaks affecting content management systems, internal emails and organisational social accounts.
These incidences raise concerns over the potential manipulation of news reporting and public information.
In response, the NCSA has held consultation meetings with key media representatives to highlight vulnerabilities and enhance preparedness.
The initiative includes deploying proactive defence measures to protect systems deemed vital to public communication.
The agency’s expanded activities form part of a broader national cybersecurity push.
Within recent months, the NCSA has also partnered with international technology firms to integrate artificial‑intelligence‑driven defences.
Collaborations include alliances with Google Cloud to deploy AI‑enhanced threat intelligence platforms and with Microsoft to modernise response capabilities.
Complementing technical enhancements, the NCSA has launched workforce development programmes.
Through its national cyber academy and certificate courses, the agency has trained tens of thousands of staff from government agencies, regulatory bodies and critical infrastructure operators.
Cybersecurity analysts attribute Thailand’s improved resilience in part to these multi‑layered efforts.
The NCSA continues to coordinate with the private sector, international partners and government departments to safeguard digital platforms against emerging threats.
