Thai PM Discusses Strengthening Ties with Iran at ACD Summit
At the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Summit in Doha, Qatari Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed enhancing 70 years of diplomatic relations, cooperation in culture and sports, and regional issues like the Palestine and Lebanon conflicts. They also addressed negotiations for releasing Thai hostages in the Israel–Hamas conflict, with Iran urged to continue its support.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra attended the 3rd Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit in Doha, Qatar, where she held a bilateral meeting with Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran.
The discussions centered on enhancing diplomatic relations, particularly celebrating the 70th anniversary of Thailand-Iran relations next year.
They explored cooperation in culture and sports and highlighted regional issues such as the conflicts in Palestine and Lebanon.
The Prime Minister invited President Pezeshkian for an official visit to Thailand, while thanking Iran for its help in negotiating the release of Thai hostages during the Israel–Hamas conflict.
She appealed for continued support in freeing the remaining Thai hostages.
Both leaders expressed a commitment to using the ACD Summit as a platform to promote peace.
