China’s Humanoid Robots Poised to Transform Everyday Life and Spiritual Functions

Shanghai Qingbao's robotic monks are set to make history in India, ushering in a new era for the expanding humanoid robot sector.
In a groundbreaking move, humanoid robots are poised to expand beyond their conventional roles in factories and exhibitions, finding new functions in spiritual and cultural environments.

Shanghai Qingbao Engine Robot, a frontrunner in humanoid robotics, has revealed its intention to dispatch over 20 of its robotic monks to India, where they will preach at a Buddhist temple.

These robots, adorned in traditional orange robes and displaying tranquil expressions, will sit cross-legged in the classic lotus posture, representing the first time robots will undertake a spiritual function in a religious context.

The incorporation of robots into religious ceremonies is seen as a significant advancement for the robotics sector.

Shanghai Qingbao, recognized for manufacturing robots for cultural tourism and events, is among numerous companies striving to innovate in the humanoid robot space.

Other prominent players in this arena include Tesla, Nvidia, and Chinese electric vehicle brands such as Xiaomi and Xpeng.

Humanoid robots are increasingly taking on diverse roles, ranging from assisting in manufacturing facilities like Tesla's Optimus to performing as entertainers or museum guides.

The rising role of robots in everyday life is driving the advancement of artificial intelligence and automation across a variety of sectors.
