Free Weekend Use of New M81 Motorway from Nakhon Pathom to Kanchanaburi: Travel Time Cut in Half
The Highways Department in Thailand has announced that motorists can use a 50-kilometer stretch of the new motorway under construction between Nakhon Pathom and Kanchanaburi provinces for free every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
This section of the motorway, which is located between the western Nakhon Pathom and Kanchanaburi gates, will be toll-free from 3 pm on Friday to 9 pm on Sunday until further notice.
The remaining gates along the highway will remain closed during this period.
The opening of this section of the new M81 highway is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Nakhon Pathom and Kanchanaburi.
Currently, the journey takes approximately one hour, but with the new motorway, travel time is estimated to be around 30 minutes.
The new motorway extends from Bang Yai district in Nonthaburi province to Kanchanaburi, covering a total distance of 96 kilometers.
There are a total of eight toll gates along the route.
The new motorway is currently under construction and is scheduled to be fully completed in the future.
The free weekend travel offer is intended to give motorists a chance to test out the new motorway and experience the reduced travel time before the toll gates are activated.
The Highways Department did not provide information on when the toll gates would be activated or how much they would cost.
