Officials Target Illegal Chinese Influencers in Bangkok
Authorities raided an operation in Bangkok's Prawet district where Chinese nationals were found live-streaming the sales of substandard products without Thai labeling or Thailand's FDA approval.
Minister Puangpet Chunlaiad of the Prime Minister's Office directed the Consumer Protection Board to probe the activity.
The inquiry pinpointed a three-story building from which influencers advertised and sold undergarments and various goods. During the raid, 17 Chinese visitors, including two who were live-streaming, were detained for working without permits.
Confiscated items, such as cosmetics and herbal patches, were unregistered and lacked mandatory Thai labels. An expert reported that around ten types of these products are now undergoing legal scrutiny with further inspections underway.
