Thailand National Cyber Academy Launched to Enhance Cybersecurity Literacy
The National Cyber Security Agency has launched the Thailand National Cyber Academy to enhance cybersecurity literacy. Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong highlighted its role in developing IT personnel and reinforcing national security. A recent survey indicated that more than half of Thais lack basic cybersecurity knowledge, underscoring the need for such initiatives.
The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has inaugurated the Thailand National Cyber Academy to promote cybersecurity literacy across the nation.
The academy, as stated by Caretaker Digital Economy and Society Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong, aims to develop IT personnel at all age levels and bolster national cybersecurity.
This launch is part of the NCSA's second phase of an intensive cybersecurity capacity-building programme offering courses at both basic and advanced levels for those managing critical information infrastructure in public and private sectors.
AVM Amorn Chomchoey, NCSA secretary-general, noted that over one million users engaged in learning during the first phase, which included partnerships with 14 universities and a cyber-clinic initiative.
A recent Thailand Cyber Wellness Index 2024 survey by Advanced Info Service highlighted that over half of the 50,965 respondents lacked fundamental cybersecurity knowledge, exposing risks related to ransomware, public WiFi use, and weak password practices.
