Thailand Plans Extensive Airport Expansions and Upgrades
Thailand is investing 700 billion baht over the next 5-10 years to expand and upgrade its airports. Key projects include new terminals at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports, and the U-Tapao Airport transformation. These plans aim to increase airport capacity to 250 million passengers annually.
Thailand has announced a comprehensive 700 billion baht plan to enhance its airport infrastructure over the next 5-10 years.
Key projects include a new South Terminal at Suvarnabhumi Airport at a cost of 120 billion baht, set to be completed by 2031, and an upgrade to Don Mueang Airport with a 36 billion baht investment to increase capacity.
The U-Tapao Airport and Eastern Aviation City project, valued at 320 billion baht, aims to transform U-Tapao into a major aviation hub, with the first phase accommodating 12 million passengers by 2028.
Additional plans include expansions at Phuket and Chiang Mai airports and the construction of two new airports and six regional airports.
These improvements are aimed at boosting Thailand's capacity to 250 million passengers annually.
