Thailand Reaffirms Commitment to Combat Transnational Crime
The Thai Government emphasizes official communication with Cambodia and a collaborative approach to address transnational crime.
On 27 June 2025, the Thai Government issued a statement addressing current societal tensions stemming from the spread of provocative content on social media.
Officials emphasized their commitment to utilizing official channels for communication with the Cambodian Government, aiming to maintain diplomatic relations amidst any attempts to sow divisions within Thai society.
The statement also highlighted increasing efforts to combat transnational crime, including call centers, online fraud, and human trafficking.
Recent reports from international organizations, such as the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Amnesty International (AI), have identified these activities as significant threats in the subregion.
The Thai Government indicated that these forms of crime not only inflict substantial economic and social harm locally but also pose notable risks at a global level.
In response to these challenges, Thailand has expressed its readiness to adopt a leadership role in regional efforts aimed at suppressing such criminal activities.
The government called for enhanced cooperation from the international community, emphasizing the importance of collaborative action to effectively tackle the complex issues arising from transnational crime in Southeast Asia.
