Thailand Sees 17.5 Million Foreign Tourists in First Half of 2024
Thailand welcomed seventeen and a half million foreign tourists in the first half of twenty twenty-four, generating tourism income of around eight hundred twenty-five point five four billion baht. China was the top source, followed by Malaysia and India. Factors like summer holidays in Europe and Pride month celebrations, along with visa waivers and increased flights, contributed to the rise.
Thailand welcomed 17,501,283 foreign tourists in the first half of 2024, generating tourism income of around 825.54 billion baht.
China was the top source, contributing 3,439,482 arrivals.
Other notable sources included Malaysia with 2,435,960 arrivals, India (1,040,069), South Korea (934,983), Russia (920,989), Laos (618,782), Taiwan (533,280), the United States (507,251), Vietnam (501,895), and the United Kingdom (485,093).
During the week of June 24-30, foreign visitors in almost all categories increased, with short-haul tourists rising by 2% to nearly 500,000 people and long-haul tourists increasing by 6.11% to approximately 170,000 people.
Factors such as the start of summer holidays in Europe and Pride month celebrations in Thailand, along with visa waivers for certain countries and increased flights, contributed to this trend.
