China Rebukes US Trade War Tactics Amid Ongoing Tensions
Chinese Ambassador criticizes US approach, reaffirms China's commitment to partnership with Thailand
The Chinese ambassador has presented a critical assessment of the US-China trade war, framing President Donald Trump's economic policies as a pursuit of national interests at the expense of global stability.
The ambassador accused the US of deflecting blame for its internal issues onto other nations, alleging unfair accusations of technology theft, capital flight, and job losses.
Citing US economic data, including a 0.4% contraction in GDP in early 2025, declining approval ratings, and opposition from state governors, the ambassador highlighted domestic backlash against the trade war.
Additionally, over 1,200 economists have reportedly signed a declaration opposing the tariff policy.
In regards to ongoing trade negotiations in Geneva, some tariffs remain in place as of April 2, posing continued barriers to China-US trade and global economic activity.
The Chinese ambassador emphasized opposition to any agreement compromising national interests, positioning China's resistance to US trade policies as a defense of both its own and global interests.
Meanwhile, the ambassador expressed confidence in Thailand's ability to navigate complex issues, stating that China trusts its partner will not compromise their relationship.
