Kazakhstan and Thailand Elevate Trade and Tourism Cooperation with Expanded Strategic Talks
Senior officials from both nations agree to deepen economic ties, promote tourism links and pursue new joint initiatives in logistics, investment and connectivity
Senior officials from Kazakhstan and Thailand have held high-level discussions aimed at broadening trade, tourism and economic cooperation, underscoring a renewed drive to strengthen bilateral ties across multiple sectors.
The talks focused on expanding commercial linkages and investment opportunities, building on more than three decades of diplomatic relations and a growing foundation of political dialogue.
The two sides reaffirmed mutual interest in reinforcing market access for exporters and deepening economic engagement, particularly in areas including agriculture, digital innovation, logistics and tourism.
Kazakhstan remains Thailand’s largest trading partner in Central Asia by a substantial margin, and officials emphasised the potential for supply chain integration and enhanced connectivity that could benefit businesses and travellers in both countries.
These discussions also aligned with efforts to capitalise on Kazakhstan’s strategic “land-link” position connecting Southeast Asia with markets across Central Asia and Europe.
Tourism emerged as another key pillar of cooperation, with both parties noting the strong growth in people-to-people travel since the easing of pandemic restrictions and visa arrangements that have encouraged visits in both directions.
Representatives highlighted opportunities to promote year-round tourism, leveraging Thailand’s renowned beach destinations and Kazakhstan’s diverse natural attractions, from ski resorts to cultural heritage sites.
The meetings also explored digital and investment cooperation, including prospects for joint projects in innovation and smart city development, reflecting shared commitments to modernising their economies.
Both sides agreed to maintain ongoing communication and pursue concrete cooperation projects that can deliver tangible benefits for trade and tourism, signalling a significant step forward in shaping a robust and forward-looking bilateral partnership.
