Thailand's Public Health Minister, Somsak Thepsutin, announced a 10-year strategic plan to increase the country's healthcare workforce.

The cabinet is set to consider the plan, which aims to add 219,594 new healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, Thai traditional medicine practitioners, and public health workers.

This initiative follows a July 9 approval by the Ministry of Public Health to address a critical shortage in the sector.

Strategies include recruiting new graduates, training nursing assistants, retaining experienced staff with better benefits, and re-engaging retired teaching nurses.
