Deputy PM and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul voiced his confidence that the new government will continue advancing the Medical Cannabis Act.
The Bhumjaithai Party proposed the draft to the Prime Minister, awaiting its incorporation into the policy statement.
This draft had prior discussions with former PM Srettha Thavisin, the Public Health Ministry, and relevant agencies, outlining usage and control measures to prevent abuse.
Cannabis was removed from the narcotics list on June 9, 2022, but restrictions remain on public smoking and sales to certain groups.
Anutin also voiced support for establishing legal entertainment complexes with casinos to attract foreign investment and create jobs.
He emphasized that the Bhumjaithai Party prioritizes benefits for Thai people, including from potential facilities within these complexes.
