EA and BAFS Form New Venture to Produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel in Thailand
A new sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) company is being formed through a collaboration between Energy Absolute Plc (EA) and Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services (BAFS).
EA, a renewable energy and electric vehicle developer and operator, is building a SAF production facility in Rayong, Thailand.
EA's subsidiary, EA Bio Innovation, plans to form a joint venture with BAFS to produce sustainable fuel for aircraft currently using jet A-1.
The goal is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by serving the demand for cleaner fuel.
EA, a Thai biofuel company, plans to produce 130 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) daily from the first quarter of next year using waste cooking oil and palm fatty acid.
The fuel is intended to replace jet fuel derived from fossil resources and reduce carbon emissions.
EA has allocated part of its 14 billion baht investment budget for the project and has received interest from various oil and aviation businesses for SAF purchases, but no agreements have been signed yet.
The Board of Investment is providing tax incentives to companies investing in SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) production in Thailand.
Airports of Thailand Plc, which manages major Thai airports, is collaborating with two companies to enter the SAF business.
Previously, Bangchak Corp announced plans to build a 10-billion-baht SAF factory at its oil refinery in Bangkok, set to open next year.
