Finance Ministry Denies Plans to Re-Establish Thai Airways as State-Owned Enterprise
New Executives Added to Facilitate Stock Market Re-listing Amidst Political Concerns
The Finance Ministry has firmly denied any intentions to revert Thai Airways International Pcl to a state-owned enterprise, countering concerns about political interference.
This week, a ministry source confirmed to Thansettakij that the addition of two executives to the airline's business rehabilitation plan aims solely to facilitate its exit from rehabilitation and its re-listing on the stock market.
The proposed amendment includes appointing Panya Chupanich, director of the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning, and Polchak Nimwatana, deputy director of the State Enterprise Policy Office, as new administrators.
This move aligns with the Ministry's policy as prompted by the Public Debt Management Office, serving as an administrative enhancement to support the restructuring process.
Thai Airways is expected to exit the rehabilitation program by February to March 2025, and the expansion of the management team is deemed essential for efficient management of securities and related operations.
