Thai and Cambodian Armies Agree to Withdraw to Pre‑Clash Positions
Troop pullback follows brokered ceasefire in contested zone
Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to return their troops to agreed pre‑skirmish positions along the Chong Bok sector of the border, according to Cambodia’s defence ministry.
The move follows a brief exchange of fire on May 28 in which a Cambodian soldier was killed and marks a tentative step toward de‑escalation.
Both militaries confirmed the adjustment came after local commanders brokered a ceasefire, while ministers signalled renewed commitment to peaceful resolution through the Joint Border Commission and related bilateral mechanisms.
