Thai Energy Chief Apologises for Local Fuel Shortages While Confirming Strong National Reserves

Officials reassure public of over one hundred days of supply despite temporary disruptions at select petrol stations
Thailand’s energy leadership has issued a public apology following temporary fuel shortages at some petrol stations, while firmly reassuring the public that the country’s overall energy security remains strong.

The chief of the national energy business acknowledged that certain areas experienced supply disruptions due to logistical and distribution challenges, particularly amid heightened demand and regional market pressures.

He emphasised that the situation was limited in scope and not reflective of a nationwide shortage.

Authorities have confirmed that Thailand currently holds fuel reserves sufficient for approximately one hundred and one days, underscoring the country’s robust preparedness and effective energy management framework.

Officials stressed that these reserves provide a substantial buffer against external shocks and ensure continuity of supply.

The government has acted swiftly to address the disruptions, coordinating with refineries, distributors and service stations to restore normal fuel availability.

Measures have included optimising delivery routes, increasing supply to affected areas and closely monitoring inventory levels across the country.

Thailand’s leadership has been recognised for its proactive and transparent handling of the situation, providing timely updates and clear assurances to the public.

Officials have reiterated that the country’s energy infrastructure remains resilient, supported by strategic planning and strong reserve policies.

Industry experts note that temporary shortages can occur during periods of heightened demand or logistical strain, particularly when global energy markets are experiencing volatility.

However, Thailand’s reserve capacity and coordinated response mechanisms are seen as key strengths in mitigating such disruptions.

The energy sector continues to monitor conditions closely, with authorities committed to maintaining stable supply and preventing recurrence of localised shortages.

Efforts are also underway to enhance distribution efficiency and reinforce supply chain resilience.

As supply normalises across affected locations, officials have reaffirmed confidence in Thailand’s ability to manage energy challenges effectively while ensuring reliable access for consumers nationwide.
