Thailand Reinforces Troops Amid Mutual Accusations at Disputed Border
Military buildup follows clash, fueling regional unease
Thailand has reinforced its military presence along the disputed border following a sharp increase in Cambodian troops, its defence minister announced Saturday.
The buildup, triggered by a border skirmish on May 28 that left a Cambodian soldier dead, comes as Phnom Penh rebuffed Thai proposals to de‑escalate.
The Thai army cited repeated Cambodian incursions and said checkpoints may face tighter restrictions.
The defence minister emphasized that Thailand does not accept ICJ jurisdiction on this issue and remains committed to resolving the conflict through bilateral mechanisms.
