Thailand Targets More Than 2.5 Million Indian Visitors with New ‘Healing Is the New Luxury’ Campaign
Bangkok launches targeted promotional drive in Mumbai to attract substantial Indian travel demand as part of 2026 tourism strategy
Thailand’s tourism authorities have intensified efforts to attract Indian visitors by launching a major promotional campaign in Mumbai aimed at securing around 2.55 million arrivals from India as part of its 2026 strategy.
The initiative, aligned with the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s broader “Amazing Thailand: Healing Is the New Luxury” framework, debuted at key travel and trade events in India’s commercial capital to showcase Thailand’s appeal as a year-round destination for wellness, culture, and leisure.
This push comes as India solidifies its position as one of Thailand’s most dynamic outbound markets after more than 2.48 million Indian travellers visited in 2025, contributing significantly to tourism revenue and ranking among the country’s largest source markets.
The campaign emphasises Thailand’s scenic landscapes, beachfront destinations and burgeoning wellness segment under the banner of “Healing Is the New Luxury,” positioning health and revitalisation experiences alongside traditional attractions such as urban culture, shopping and cuisine.
Tourism officials are engaging local partners, travel agents and media in India to highlight seamless travel opportunities enabled by strong air connectivity and visa-free entry provisions for Indian nationals, which have been instrumental in sustaining travel momentum.
Thailand’s renewed focus on quality travel from India reflects a strategic pivot towards value-led tourism growth after the sector experienced mixed performance in recent years amid global economic shifts and changing travel patterns.
By catering to diverse Indian travel interests — from family holidays and luxury experiences to wellness and cultural exploration — authorities hope to not only meet their target for Indian arrival numbers but also nurture longer stays and higher visitor spending.
This targeted outreach in India underscores Thailand’s broader ambition to strengthen bilateral tourism ties and capture a larger share of the Southeast Asian travel market as global tourism rebounds.
