WHA Utilities and Power (WHAUP), part of Thailand's largest industrial land developer WHA Corp, is reviewing a $200 million acquisition of new energy assets abroad.
The goal is to expand its renewable energy business, aligning with Thailand's power development plan aimed at reducing carbon emissions.
Talks are in progress for acquiring stakes in two solar farms and one wind farm totaling over 100 megawatts of capacity.
WHAUP plans to acquire a 20-30% stake in these assets.
Chief Executive Somkiat Masunthasuwun stated efforts are also underway in Vietnam.
Domestically, WHAUP will co-develop five solar farms with a combined capacity of 125.4MW.
These are part of a broader scheme to increase Thailand's renewable energy share to 51% by 2037.
WHAUP also aims to grow its rooftop solar capacity to 300MW this year, up from 200MW.
