Airports of Thailand board approves five-year expansion plan for Suvarnabhumi airport, from 2025 to 2030, allocating one hundred seventy million baht for hiring consultants to study feasibility and design project details. The bidding is expected to begin by late 2025 or early 2026. Suvarnabhumi's South Expansion, budgeted at one hundred twenty billion baht, is prioritized to finish within the current government's term, with no loans required due to AoT's regained liquidity post-pandemic. Expansion for Don Mueang airport is also in progress with design completion expected by November.
The Airports of Thailand (AoT) board has given the green light for a five-year expansion project at Suvarnabhumi airport, scheduled from 2025 to 2030.
During the board meeting, a budget of 170 million baht was approved for hiring consultants, who will study the project's feasibility and design the details.
The bidding process is expected to start by late 2025 or early 2026.
The expansion includes the West, South, and North areas, along with a new cargo building.
The South Expansion has a substantial budget of 120 billion baht to be completed within the current government's term.
Despite the large budget, AoT will not require a loan due to regained liquidity post-pandemic.
Additionally, the expansion project for Don Mueang airport is underway with design completion expected by November.
