Bangchak Partners with CPF to Produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel
New agreement focuses on transforming used cooking oil into eco-friendly jet fuel
Bangchak Corporation Plc, a leading energy conglomerate in Thailand, has signed a business sustainability cooperation agreement with Charoen Pokphand Foods Plc (CPF) to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
This collaboration allows the two companies to manage used cooking oil and fats from CPF's operations, including those from wastewater treatment plants, for SAF production through Bangchak's subsidiary, BSGF.
SAF is a biofuel that reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to traditional jet fuel, aligning with government efforts to foster circular economic development.
The campaign 'Fry to Fly' encourages proper disposal and reutilization of cooking oil across more than 800 nationwide locations.
To meet European Union requirements for increasing SAF content in aviation, Bangchak is constructing an SAF facility in Bangkok set to commence operations in the second quarter of 2025, with a capacity of 1 million liters per day.
With plans to derive 60% of the feedstock domestically, Bangchak and CPF aim to enhance sustainable practices and explore future expansions internationally.
