Bitcoin Marathon & Festival 2025 Secures Official Approval in Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai’s PAO endorses a pioneering event that integrates sports, innovation, and financial literacy coinciding with the Loy Krathong festival.
CHIANG MAI, THAILAND – The Bitcoin Half Marathon & Bitcoin Thailand Festival 2025 has received official approval from the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO), responsible for local governance.

The event is scheduled to occur on November 1-2, 2025, and is a collaborative effort involving PAO Park and Jog and Joy Thailand, a seasoned race organizer with over 30 years of experience and 870 successfully executed events.

The Bitcoin Marathon, themed "Run for Freedom," is projected to draw more than 3,000 participants, positioning it as one of Thailand's prominent running events.

Alongside the marathon, the Bitcoin Thailand Festival will be held at PAO Park, which accommodates more than 25,000 guests.

The festival anticipates over 10,000 attendees over the duration of the event.

This innovative festival aligns with the Loy Krathong festival, a significant cultural event in Chiang Mai that attracts around 50,000 visitors annually.

By coinciding with this well-known ceremony, the Bitcoin Thailand Festival aims to bolster Chiang Mai’s image as a center for digital innovation and economic advancement.

Targeting a diverse demographic of attendees aged 18 to 60, the festival is expected to welcome professionals, students, athletes, business owners, educators, technologists, and industry leaders.

This assembly will encapsulate local Thai Bitcoin enthusiasts, expatriates, and international visitors, encouraging dialogue and collaboration during a transformative financial period.

The festival presents sponsors with a unique opportunity to engage with an active and influential audience.

The festival's central focus is on financial literacy, inclusion, and empowerment.

Planned activities include interactive workshops, expert-led discussions, and educational sessions aimed at enhancing attendees' comprehension of Bitcoin and digital financial landscapes.

The initiative seeks to strengthen access to financial education, promote hands-on engagement with new financial technologies, and close knowledge gaps to empower underserved communities and support long-term economic resilience.

Notably, the Bitcoin Marathon & Festival 2025 coincides with Thailand's Bitcoin Sandbox and Stablecoins Initiative, spearheaded by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Thailand, in partnership with the Bank of Thailand (BOT).

Set to launch in October 2025, this initiative will integrate Bitcoin and stablecoins into the Thai economy under a regulated framework.

Phuket is designated as the pilot location for this testing phase, where businesses and consumers will be able to explore cryptocurrency transactions, notably within the tourism sector.

Supported by former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, this sandbox initiative aims to attract tech-savvy tourists and digital nomads, allowing cryptocurrency transactions for various goods and services, including significant purchases like real estate.

The sandbox will function within a regulatory structure designed to assess the impact of these innovations while prioritizing financial stability.

If proven effective, this initiative could establish Thailand as a leader in Southeast Asia's digital asset domain.

With firm backing from local government and highly regarded event partners, the Bitcoin Marathon & Festival 2025 is positioned to become a landmark occasion for Thailand and the broader Southeast Asian region.

For details regarding sponsorship and participation, inquiries can be directed to the event's website.
