Delegation headed by the Finance Minister to address reciprocal tariffs and the possible impacts of a global trade war.
A delegation from the Thai government, headed by the Finance Minister, is preparing to visit the US for discussions on the ramifications of the recent US trade policies.
This initiative follows the US President's announcement of reciprocal tariffs against several nations, Thailand included, which is facing a 37% tariff on its goods exported to the US. The Thai Prime Minister has indicated that the delegation will highlight Thailand's position as both an exporter and a dependable long-term economic ally.
The country aims to alleviate the repercussions of the new trade policies, which are anticipated to impact Thai exports such as electronics, processed foods, and agricultural items.
In the negotiations, Thailand has devised proposals to boost imports from the US, including energy, aircraft, and agricultural products, as well as to strengthen collaboration across various sectors.
The Thai government is also intent on fostering investment in the US and tackling import restrictions.
Talks aimed at mitigating the effects of US trade policies are set for April 8.
