Phuket Police Arrest 37 Individuals During Nightlife Sweep on Bangla Road
Operation targets alleged disruptive behaviour in popular tourist district of Patong
Authorities in Phuket arrested thirty-seven individuals, primarily transgender women, during an operation on Thursday evening aimed at curbing behaviour deemed disruptive to tourism in the area.
The arrests took place in Soi Bangla, a prominent nightlife zone in Patong, part of Kathu district.
According to the Phuket provincial police, the operation focused on individuals whose conduct was considered to negatively impact the province’s tourism industry and public image.
The suspects were detained and taken to Patong Police Station for further questioning and legal processing.
Phuket police officials stated that the behaviour in question may be classified as unlawful, though no specific charges were immediately detailed.
Bangla Road, where the arrests occurred, is known as a major entertainment hub, attracting large numbers of international visitors with its bars, clubs, and performance venues.
Local authorities have increased enforcement efforts in tourist-heavy areas amid concerns over safety, orderliness, and the island’s international reputation.
