EEC Approves New Medical Centre in Rayong to Boost S-Curve Industry Growth
Facility planned to enhance wellness tourism and healthcare investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor
Authorities have sanctioned the establishment of a medical and health centre in Pluak Daeng district, Rayong, as part of a strategy to enhance investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor's (EEC) S-curve industries.
The centre, set on 26 rai of land, aims to foster investment in medical and health solutions, aligning with the EEC's focus on developing sectors such as wellness tourism.
Chula Sukmanop, secretary-general of the EEC Office, highlighted the initiative's potential to diversify industries, including healthcare.
This decision followed an EEC development policy meeting chaired by Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira.
The EEC, encompassing parts of Chon Buri, Rayong, and Chachoengsao, targets 12 S-curve industries such as wellness tourism, new-generation cars, and smart electronics.
Additionally, the committee assessed the smart city project in Chachoengsao and approved compensation for farmers on 4,916 rai for the project's development.
The EEC also includes the third-phase expansion of the Map Ta Phut deep-sea port in Rayong, under the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand's supervision.
This port, spanning 1,000 rai with a 55 billion baht budget, is set for completion in 2027, facilitating liquid goods transport as part of Thailand's high-tech industrial developments.
Other infrastructural projects comprise a high-speed rail link between three airports, U-tapao aviation city, and further expansion of Laem Chabang deep-sea port.
