Grand Parade for the Arrival of Lord Buddha’s Tooth in Bangkok
A Sacred Relic on Loan from China to Celebrate Thailand's Royal and Diplomatic Milestones
A grand parade will mark the arrival of Lord Buddha's sacred tooth in Bangkok on December 4, 2024.
The relic, on loan from the Lingguang Temple in Beijing, is part of celebrations for His Majesty the King's sixth-cycle birthday and the 50th anniversary of Sino-Thai diplomatic relations.
Organized by Culture Minister Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, the parade will include 24 processions with approximately 2,700 participants, featuring the Royal Household Bureau, military and police forces, traditional performers, religious representatives, and ethnic groups.
The sacred tooth will be escorted from Don Mueang Airport's Wing 6 to the Maha Jessada Bodin pavilion and finally to Sanam Luang near the Grand Palace.
It will be enshrined at Sanam Luang, allowing devotees to pay homage until February 14, 2025.
Special activities will occur during this period, including New Year events, alms-giving, and religious ceremonies, further strengthening cultural ties between Thailand and China.
