Increased Funding to Enhance Start-ups' Commercial Ventures in Thailand
The Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Ministry of Thailand has announced a nearly 20% increase in its Technology Fund for 2024, aiming to support tech entrepreneurs in expanding their start-up ventures.
The ministry's Technology and Innovation-based Enterprise Development Fund (TED Fund) recently celebrated its efforts with the TED Fund Grant Day 2024, highlighting its role in fostering sustainable economic growth.
Supachai Pathumnakul, the ministry's permanent secretary and TED Fund chairman, stated that the fund would facilitate students, recent graduates, and start-up entrepreneurs to commercialize their research and innovations, aligning with the government's policies for advancing the digital economy.
In 2024, the TED Fund supported 264 projects nationwide with over 232 million baht, ensuring financial support is distributed across all regions.
Key initiatives included the TED Youth Startup's Ideation Incentive Programme, TED Market Scaling Up, and Startups for Startups, each offering up to 2 million baht in funding.
The TED Fund plans to support 270 projects in 13 sectors next year, increasing the budget to over 273 million baht.
According to TED Fund manager Tipawan Vetchakarunyakorn, this funding is expected to drive significant social and economic benefits, generating more than a billion baht.
