Murata Electronics to Invest 62 Billion Baht in New Thai Capacitor Factory
Expansion to Boost Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor Production in Lamphun
Murata Electronics (Thailand) Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Japan's Murata Manufacturing, plans to invest an additional 62 billion baht to construct a new advanced capacitor factory in Lamphun, Thailand.
According to the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), the project will initially see 3 billion baht allocated to develop a 65-rai (10.4-hectare) site, with future expansion reaching 200 rai (32 hectares) and completion targeted by 2028.
The new facility aims to enhance production of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs), essential components for smartphones, telecommunications devices, and vehicle electronics.
Murata first established its presence in Thailand in 1988 with a factory in Lamphun's Northern Industrial Estate, which now spans 450 rai (72 hectares).
Acting IEAT Governor Sumet Tangprasert noted that Murata's increased investment underscores its confidence in Thailand's electronics industry.
Murata Manufacturing, renowned for its innovative technologies and high-quality electronic components, including ceramic capacitors, lines up this expansion to reinforce its global footprint.
