New FTA expected to boost Thailand's economy and global trade relations
The Thailand-EFTA Free Trade Agreement (FTA) has been finalized, marking a key economic development for Thailand.
Approved by the EFTA Secretariat after two years of negotiations, the deal is set to be signed in January.
The agreement covers fifteen key areas, including trade in goods, rules of origin, and intellectual property, negotiated with EFTA members Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein.
The Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC), led by Chairman Sanan Angubolkul, anticipates the FTA will enhance Thailand's economy, strengthen its global competitiveness, and create new opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs.
Furthermore, this deal is expected to pave the way for a future Thailand-European Union FTA, potentially concluding by 2025 or 2026.
