Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services Projects Significant Growth in Fuel Sales

BAFS anticipates an 8% increase in fuel sales to 5.4 billion litres, bolstered by rising tourism and enhanced airport infrastructure.
Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services (BAFS), a publicly listed company on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, has forecasted an 8% increase in fuel sales for 2025, expecting to reach 5.4 billion litres.

This projected growth is attributed to a surge in tourism and improvements in airport facilities, as articulated by ML Nathasit Diskul, the company's president.

The anticipated rise in sales is expected to generate revenue of approximately 3.8 billion baht, marking an increase from last year’s 3.5 billion baht.

BAFS noted that international flight arrivals to Thailand are on the rise, with foreign tourist numbers expected to attain 88% of the pre-pandemic levels seen in 2019.

In 2024, Thailand welcomed over 35 million visitors, with spending exceeding 1.6 trillion baht, as reported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand has established a target of 40 million foreign arrivals for the year 2025, signalling continued growth in the tourism sector.

A significant factor contributing to the increased consumption of jet fuel is the recent expansion of runway facilities at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The airport's third runway, which commenced operations in November 2024, is anticipated to facilitate a greater number of aircraft over the full year of 2025, thereby escalating fuel demand.

In addition to Suvarnabhumi, BAFS provides refuelling services at several other airports, including Don Mueang, Koh Samui, Sukhothai, and Trat.

Responding to the challenges posed by the pandemic, BAFS diversified its service offerings to include oil pipeline transportation and the sale of electric trucks intended for aircraft refuelling operations.

For 2025, the company projects a 5% increase in oil pipeline transport volume, predicting it will reach 1.3 billion litres.

Development is ongoing under the third phase of an oil pipeline project linking Ang Thong and Saraburi, with expected capacity enhancements of over 700 million litres annually once construction is finalized.

BAFS's subsidiary, BAFS Intech Co, specializes in selling electric trucks to jet refuelling providers both domestically and internationally.

The company has successfully delivered 22 electric trucks and has contracts in place for 16 additional trucks, valued at 187 million baht.

In the previous fiscal year, non-jet fuel-related operations accounted for 20% of BAFS's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization, while jet refuelling services constituted the remaining 80%.
