Routine Medical Consultations Essential for Women's Reproductive Health
Experts emphasize the importance of regular health assessments, particularly for women planning to conceive, during a recent seminar in Bangkok.
During a seminar titled 'Women Vision: Her Story Our Story' organized by the Bangkok Post, Dr. Chalomkwan Prayoonwech, M.D., Director of the Fertility and Women Wellness Clinic at BDMS Wellness Clinic, urged women, especially those who are pregnant or planning to conceive, to seek regular medical consultations to safeguard their reproductive health.
Dr. Chalomkwan highlighted the necessity of routine check-ups and pointed out that women's healthcare needs are distinct due to their biological differences.
She noted, 'Each stage of a woman's life is special and requires specific planning,' explaining that healthcare requirements can vary widely based on an individual’s health status and personal goals.
For those contemplating motherhood, Dr. Chalomkwan mentioned critical factors that should be taken into account, including age, overall health, medical history, and hormonal balance.
Dr. Chalomkwan emphasized the significance of undergoing a comprehensive reproductive health evaluation for women trying to conceive, which can lead to healthier pregnancy outcomes.
In some cases, she pointed out, women may benefit from assisted reproductive technologies, such as intra-uterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), which can be tailored to individual needs.
Furthermore, the seminar highlighted the relevance of genetic screening for prospective parents.
According to Dr. Chalomkwan, such screenings are crucial as they can detect potential genetic abnormalities, enabling couples to make informed decisions regarding their pregnancy plans.
Postpartum care was another critical topic of discussion during the seminar.
Dr. Chalomkwan stressed that the need for medical consultations does not cease after childbirth.
She advocated for continued support to ensure that new mothers recover both physically and psychologically following delivery.
'Pregnancy planning isn't just about having a healthy pregnancy but also about supporting the mother post-delivery to maintain her overall health,' Dr. Chalomkwan stated.
She reaffirmed the essential role of medical consultations at every stage of a woman's life, particularly in the context of pregnancy planning, to promote both maternal and child health.
Dr. Chalomkwan concluded with the assertion that each individual’s healthcare requirements are unique, necessitating ongoing consultations with medical professionals to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
