The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has assured residents that it is fully prepared for potential flooding caused by an overflowing Chao Phraya River.

BMA spokesman Ekwaranyu Amrapal visited riverbank communities following the Meteorological Department's forecast of continued heavy rains in North, Northeast, and Central Thailand.

The BMA has deployed workers and equipment to flood-prone areas and has assigned officials to monitor flood levees around the clock.

Bangkok's flood defences include 87.93 kilometers of flood levees, with 79.63 kilometers being permanent embankments.

The BMA has reinforced temporary levees with sandbags and remains on high alert.

Residents are advised to stay updated through BMA's website, social media channels, or the 1555 hotline.

The Royal Irrigation Department reported a flow rate of 1,286 cubic meters per second into the Chao Phraya at Bang Sai water station in Ayutthaya.
