Thailand’s government is promoting its new Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) to attract foreign nationals who wish to work while traveling in the country.

Foreign Affairs Minister Maris Sangiampongsa announced that the DTV will help facilitate long-term stays for remote workers, aiding local economies.

For example, a friend’s son has been working remotely for Disney World from Phuket.

The DTV allows foreign nationals to stay up to 180 days with an option to extend another 180 days.

Alongside, an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system will streamline visa processes, enhancing security and convenience for travelers from 93 countries.

The government is also working on a “Six Countries, One Destination” scheme to make Thailand a regional tourism hub in collaboration with Myanmar, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.
