Kasikorn Bank (KBank) has announced plans to release a list of its mobile banking users whose registered name does not match their SIM card owner details.

The announcement, scheduled for February 17, is part of efforts to comply with the Digital Economy and Society (DES) Ministry's initiative to enhance security and combat online fraud.

Users identified in the list will be required to update their details at their respective banks or mobile service providers by April 30 to prevent potential account suspension.

Notifications have already been sent to affected users via mobile banking applications since February 1.

The verification process applies to customers using KBank’s K Plus, K Plus SME, Line BK, and Make by KBank services.

The DES Ministry reported that of over 120 million mobile numbers screened in November 2023, approximately 75.8 million numbers matched their registered SIM owner and mobile banking account details.

However, 30.9 million numbers were found to have discrepancies, and SIM ownership data had been lost for another 13.5 million numbers.
