Pattaya Beach is experiencing an influx of moon jellyfish, which can cause severe skin irritation. Tourists are advised to exercise caution while swimming. In case of a sting, washing the wound with vinegar is recommended.
Pattaya Beach, specifically at the Dong Tan section, has been experiencing an influx of moon jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) over the past four days.
Officials have warned tourists to be cautious while swimming as the jellyfish can cause severe skin irritation, although their venom is not fatal.
Wallop Boonchu, a marine disaster prevention official, emphasized that lifeguards have been notified to alert beachgoers about this potential hazard.
Pattaya Deputy Mayor Krissana Boonsawat advised those stung by jellyfish to immediately wash the affected area with vinegar.
This occurrence is common at the end of the rainy season.
