Overseas Vietnamese in Thailand Pledge Support for Vietnam’s Long-Term Development Goals

Community leaders in Thailand affirm commitment to contribute to Vietnam’s socio-economic and cultural objectives following the 14th National Party Congress
Overseas Vietnamese in Thailand have expressed strong support for the successful fulfilment of Vietnam’s long-term national development goals, emphasising their desire to contribute to the country’s progress in the new era defined by the 14th National Party Congress.

Speaking from Nakhon Phanom Province, Nguyen Van Xuyen, head of the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site’s management board, highlighted the significance of the Party’s resolution in guiding rapid and sustainable development, enhancing Vietnam’s international stature, and reinforcing cultural and diplomatic ties abroad.

Mr Xuyen noted that the Congress’s outcomes provide strategic vision not only for domestic progress but also for overseas activities that preserve and promote Vietnam’s cultural heritage and people-to-people diplomacy across the region, including in Thailand and the wider Mekong subregion.

He and other members of the Vietnamese community in Thailand expressed hopes that the Party’s resolution would continue to strengthen policies supporting overseas Vietnamese, enabling them to stabilise their lives abroad while maintaining strong bonds with their homeland.

In his remarks, Mr Xuyen underscored the importance of overseas Vietnamese as an invaluable resource — economically, culturally and diplomatically — and called for enhanced mechanisms to protect their legitimate rights and facilitate deeper integration into host societies.

He spoke of ongoing efforts to preserve Vietnamese language and cultural identity among younger generations, and to use educational and historical initiatives to foster pride in national traditions and Ho Chi Minh Thought.

Initiatives by the Memorial Site’s management aim to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and showcase Vietnam’s image as a dynamic, peaceful and forward-looking nation.

By reinforcing cultural continuity and promoting cooperation, the overseas Vietnamese community in Thailand intends to support Vietnam’s development agenda through active participation in cultural programmes, educational exchanges and public diplomacy.

Leaders emphasised that their contributions, rooted in unity and heritage, will complement broader efforts to achieve Vietnam’s development goals through 2030 and 2045, while also bolstering friendly relations between Vietnam, Thailand and other regional partners.
