Connectivity, Competitiveness, and Community Highlighted by Paetongtarn at GMS Summit
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra advocated for a '3Cs' approach—connectivity, competitiveness, and community—during the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit in Kunming, China.
The summit, focused on innovation-driven development, aims to foster a stronger and more prosperous region.
Paetongtarn emphasized the importance of connectivity as a foundation for regional integration, highlighting Thailand's efforts such as the Bangkok-Vientiane train service and the development of Laem Chabang Port.
The competitiveness component focuses on innovation and digital transformation, with initiatives like PromptPay and cross-border QR code payments aiding Thailand's shift to a cashless society.
The community aspect stresses collaboration across sectors and expanding social safety nets, aligning with the GMS Gender Strategy and promoting inclusive development.
The eighth GMS Summit was attended by leaders from China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and the Asian Development Bank.
