Authorities in Thailand have implemented heightened security measures following the discovery of several suspected explosive devices in popular tourist locations within the southern provinces of Phuket and Krabi.

The devices were located in the parking area of Phuket airport, on Patong Beach, at Promthep Cape, and in Krabi's city centre on Thursday.

All suspected devices were safely neutralized without causing damage, and two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incidents.

In an immediate response, local administrations increased security protocols to ensure the safety of both residents and visitors.

Informal discussions among hotel operators indicated that while some tourists sought information about safety, they largely continued with their travel plans.

Currently, occupancy rates in the region are reported at 30-50%, coinciding with the low tourism season.

Meanwhile, Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong, who was attending a Muay Thai festival in Italy at the time of the incidents, assured that he was receiving regular updates from security officials who are continuing their investigations.

He urged media outlets to exercise caution in their reporting of these events, citing the potential adverse effects on the tourism sector.
