Joint Technical Committee Expected to be Appointed Soon
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra announced that the Thai Cabinet is likely to appoint a Joint Technical Committee (JTC) within two weeks to resume discussions with Cambodia regarding border disputes.
After the weekly Cabinet meeting, she confirmed that coalition partners agreed on forming a JTC to address overlapping territorial claims in the Gulf of Thailand, based on the MOU44 framework established in 2001.
Both countries recognize Ko Kut as Thai territory under the 1907 Franco-Siamese Treaty, clarifying Cambodia has no claims over it.
Cambodia has already prepared its committee and awaits Thailand's appointments, expected to be finalized soon for Cabinet approval.
